The Pateadores have named Mike Rubio as the Youth Director for the South County Chapter.
Rubio, Head Coach and Director of Coaching for the Placentia Yorba Linda Chapter, started coaching with the Pateadores in 1999 and was one of the club’s first youth coordinators. Since then Mike has gained experience in many coaching and directing roles. From taking teams overseas to play in international tournaments or attending the World Cup in Brazil, Mike has experienced a lot of what the game has had to offer. Despite having all of these experiences, he still believes you can always continue to grow as a coach. He enjoys working with youth players and seeing them develop, as well as learning from them. Mike has been married to his wife Karen for 16 years; they have 3 children and live in the city of Orange.
South County Pateadores Co-Director Matt Swindle believes that adding a youth director to the South County Pateadores will add value to the younger teams, players and coaches, “Mike Rubio is a great addition to the South County Pateadores and will immediately improve our footprint in South OC."
Kevin Macare, South County Pateadores Co-Director, added, “We are excited to bring Mike into the South County Chapter and look forward to him continuing the growth and improving the talent level at the younger ages. His energy and enthusiasm will be contagious.”
Rubio is a United States Soccer Federation licensed coach and currently holds a “C” License. He holds a Masters of Coaching in Athletic Administration from Concordia University in Irvine and a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from California State University, Fullerton.
